Abstract

The energy crisis of 1973 had a major effect on transportation. The authors cite countermeasures and alternatives, such as mass transit and car pooling. Statistics of energy savings from these measures are given. Environmental standards, new energy sources and small cars are commented upon, and some suggestions are put forth concerning necessary research.
