The 2009 Overview report presents a brief overview of the state of transportation in Canada using the most current information available. This overview report is the third such report submitted by the Minister since the coming into force of the amended Section 52 of the Canada Transportation Act. In producing this overview report, Transport Canada used the most current data and information available. The most current data means the most recent year for which data were available, which was not always 2009. While the scope of the report goes beyond the federal transportation responsibilities, limited attention was paid to urban and intermodal transportation matters. The overview report with its companion addendum nevertheless offers a broad coverage of Canada’s transportation system. (Author/publisher)
