Abstract

Transportation demand management (TMD) strategies are discussed with an emphasis on some of the barriers to their success, particularly in the New York region. Coverage of TDM strategies is not exhaustive, but focuses on major strategies, such as alternative work hours, pooling, parking management, pricing, and land use. A methodology to select the potentially most effective TDM strategies is also presented. (A)
