Abstract
The Department of Transport and the Société de l'Assurance Automobile du Québec (SAAQ) have worked together to prepare this volume of the policy on highway safety, each with reference to its own safety mission. The objective is to reduce the risk of road accidents by implementing new programs or improving those already in place. This first volume of the policy will guide future action on highway safety. The other means of transportation (by sea, by rail and by air) will be dealt with in another volume.
