Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2041 includes 10 papers that explore reliability and security in transportation networks, intergovernmental cooperation in the conduct of a local government continuity-of-operations exercise, transportation network risk profile for an origin-destination pair, integrated urban evacuation planning framework, and empirical characterization of mass evacuation traffic flow. This issue of the TRR also examines the impact of a hurricane on mobilization time; an emergency evacuation system for Washington, D.C.; the emergency preparedness of the Rhode Island transportation system in the event of a disaster; a simulation-based framework for transportation network management in emergencies; and microscopic versus mesoscopic simulation for the assessment of I-4 contraflow plans.
