The 23 chapters in this volume present some of the latest aspects in the area of human behaviour and its relation to planning optimal traffic safety. The development of modern vehicles and new traffic systems requires more sophisticated behaviour and technology. New medical technologies such as improved neuropsychologic methods and descriptive mapping of behaviour with imaging techniques facilitate the understanding of the anatomy and physiology of human behaviour. An increased knowledge of normal and pathologic behaviour may be used to strengthen primary prevention with the goal of reducing traffic accidents. For abstracts of the papers see C 19423 - C 19445 (ITRD E110302-E110324).
