Abstract

This report contains a message from the U.S. Secretary of Transportation and from the Administrator of the Research and Innovative Technology Administration concerning the Transportation Vision for 2030 which will help guide investment decisions and research. They foresee that the transportation system in 2030 will be safe and less congested, economically competitive, energy independent, environmentally sustainable, secure, and resilient. The report includes a vision statement followed by a review of trends, a look at the pathway to the future, and a spotlight on progress in each of the following four areas: passenger transportation, freight transportation, financing and partnerships, and technology and innovation.
