Traumatic asphyxia in children; pathophysiology and management.

Abstract

Three cases of traumatic asphyxia in children due to compression trauma from traffic accidents are described. All were treated conservatively, and survived. This experience prompted a review of the reported cases of this syndrome and a consideration of its aetiology and management.
