Abstract

The paper gives a broad overview of the development of travel demand models for a study in the "Zuidvleugel" (South Wing) of the Randstad conurbation. The work described in this paper was done in the years 1977-1980; 1) the context of the model developments, 2) the aims of the study, 3) considerations behind the choice of disaggregate logit models, 4) the data used in the study, 5) the reasons for the use of tours (trip-chains) as the unit of travel, 6) the model structure, 7) the estimation method, 8) some estimation results, 9) the aggregation method, and 10) validation.
