Abstract

During the holiday season, traffic conditions are unusual and cannot be predicted using ordinary statistical traffic analysis. A new approach was investigated for long holiday seasons. In this paper, a day with unusual traffic conditions is called a 'singular day'. The approach consists of the following three phases: assumption of the holiday from the point of view of traffic conditions; creation of the statistical traffic data of a singular day; and identification of the singular days of the year. The statistical traffic data of the singular days were evaluated, confirming the effectiveness of the method. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
