Abstract

The statistics of road traffic accidents are analyzed and the characteristics of the groups highly prone to be involved in accidents are studied. The number of automobiles owned in Japan increased 2-6 times between 1968 and 1978. On the other hand, the number of casualties from traffic accidents markedly decreased as a result of the improvement and reinforcement of traffic safety measures
