Abstract

A review of the introduction of new vehicle lighting products in the market is presented. One of the first major accessory products were fog lamps / rear fog lamps. These became a legal requirement in Germany from 1991. High mounted brake lights became a requirement in Germany in 1980 and in Europe in 1993. The first prototypes of projector style headlamps called DE low beam lamps were tested in 1982. The micro DE fog lamp has recently been introduced. Technology introduction with new accessory and standard magnesium headlamps is described. Thermoplastic reflector materials and the development of standard electronic control systems are also included. For the covering abstract see ITRD E123380.
