Abstract

A study was undertaken to examine time trends in motorcycle crash-related deaths in California and the U.S. and to determine, using stepwise, discriminant analyses, an optimum set of driver and vehicle factors associated with motorcycle crash injuries. Data substantiate the high risk associated with youthful operators of motorcycles. Age limited discriminant analysis identified prior motorcycle violations, prior motorcycle crashes, and automobile driving experience as risk factors in motorcycle crash injuries.
