This paper presents a trial of commercial vehicle operations management in the Osaka-Kobe areas. The trial is based on systems using information technologies, such as the Internet, car navigation systems, Global Positioning System (GPS), and wireless communications, and intended to showcase their availability for motor carriers. The services provided in the trial are calculating appropriate delivery routes, searching for locations of trucks and freight, monitoring the status of delivery, communicating between operators and drivers and outputting information on fleet operations. In this paper, the evaluation of the systems for the trial and the findings associated with the trial are also presented.
