Abstract

The distribution of trips by categories of households will depend on trip generation and on the distribution of transportation expenditures among the categories. Since the sensitivity of modal choice of differences in modal costs can varying between households, the modal splits will depend on the household categories. We treat household income as a continuous variable and indicate how some of the calibration problems could be resolved by exploring different hypotheses about expenditure patterns.
