Abstract

The papers in this Special Publication, Truck and Bus Safety Issues (SP-1400), are drawn from 1998 SAE International Truck and Bus Meeting and Exposition sessions organised by the Commercial Vehicle Engineering Operations (CVEO) Total Vehicle Committee. They cover various topics in two of the three environments: the operator (driver training and driving simulators, and driver fatigue/loss of alertness from the points of view of local and long-distance drivers); and the vehicle (crashworthiness and reduced aggressivity). They also address two types of interfaces: vehicle-operator (cab ergonomics), and roadway-vehicle (vehicle size and weight policy issues). For abstracts of the papers presented at the conference see ITRD E203706 - E203713.
