Abstract

A review of 161 accidents involving at least one large truck is made. Recommendations are given for large truck driver training which should include improvement in passing skills and visual search behaviour, as well as increased awareness of the truck dimensions and its road displacement area. Research on individual differences in fatigue susceptibility may lead to new criteria for driver selection.
