Abstract

The purpose of the project is to determine the passenger-car equivalent of a truck for various conditions of grade, volume density, curvature, acceleration and deceleration. This portion of the project investigates the relationship of head-ways between P-car following in predominantly passenger-car lanes (less than 5 percent trucks) and headways between 1) P-car following P-car, 2) P-car following truck, 3) truck following P-car, and 4) truck following in an 80-percent-truck lane and a 38%-percent-truck lane.
