Abstract

Activities within the euroregional project VIKING (Denmark, Finland, Sweden and northern parts of Germany), partly financed by Directorate General VII (Transport) of the European Commission, are described. The project is led by the city of Bremen and consists of the stages: (1) development and legal framework of a truck guidance network for the through traffic, (2) truck route map to support acceptance of the truck routes and evaluation of acceptance, (3) study for satellite-based truck navigation system and (4) testing of a pilot system.
