Abstract

In order to address the Safety record of heavy trucks in the Province of Ontario a Commission was established. Considerable public and industry input was received with varied and often conflicting concerns. The Commission provided findings on traffic accident information, driver licensing, training and medical requirements, accident causation, and vehicle maintenance and dimensions. Of the total 61 recommendations, over half have been accepted by the government and are being acted upon.
