Abstract

This article describes the integrated closed-circuit television (CCTV) networks produced by the UK company COE Limited. Traditional video surveillance systems cannot be integrated to others which devalues the level of service to the end user. Systems today have multiple application needs but a common requirement for video network integrity. COE has experience in tailoring video network solutions for transportation projects such as highways, mass transit systems, railways and airports. Much of the evolutionary intelligence used is delivered through software, minimising upgrade and expansion costs. Several projects currently in operation are described in brief. Future totally integrated digital video domains will be able to analyse data to facilitate rapid decision-making; have the capacity for multi-way information flow; have a secure audit control system; and conform to environmental and civil liberties legislation. The networks will enable transport modes to communicate with each other and harmonise applications. For the covering abstract see ITRD E118381.
