Abstract

Tyre functions play a predominant role. The non-linear shape of tyre characteristics, cause considerable changes in handling properties at different levels of lateral (cornering) accelerations. A vehicle negotiating a stable turn may become unstable as a result of the action of a sufficiently large disturbance impulse. A survey is given of different ways of developing a tyre model. Thereafter a model useful for vehicle dynamics studies is described.
