Abstract

The main purpose of this report is to present and discuss empirical data on braking and sideway forces both separate and combined, and on self aligning torque, all as functions of braking slip and slip angle. The data refers to wet road surfaces only, but the effect of such factors as speed, road surface texture, tread pattern, tread resilience, tyre constructions and tyre wear are reported. The test vehicle recording system, data evaluation and analysis are also described.
