Abstract

The basic equations describing the plane and horizontal skidding motions of an unbraked vehicle are derived by use of a mechanically equivalent system. They may be written as a system of nonlinear differential equations which in general allows numerical solutions only. A particular numerical solution is given in the paper, showing the influence of having an entirely free or fully blocked steering system. The results show that such influence increases as the skidding path becomes longer.
