Abstract
The feasibility of the emission polarization effect of tungsten is studied. This effect is characterized by the highly polarized nature of light which is emitted nearly grazinly from plane incandescent surfaces. Calculations and experiments show that light sources with the desired higher output of polarized light and sufficient efficiency for use in motor vehicles can be realized by multi-layer arrays of polished tungsten ribbon filaments (See also PB 5194).
