The UCLA Motor Vehicle Project has completed a second year of operation of an integrated medical-engineering group. The program is structured into three categories: Task I, the study of causes of motor vehicle injuries in a medical-engineering framework; Task II, developing and offering a training course for medical-engineering teams from 20 universities and institutions; Task III, theoretical and experimental studies to investigate the nature and consequences of motor vehicle accidents. Ten papers and lectures have been written and presented in connection with Task I. The training course was given during the two week period June 16-27 inclusive with 27 attendees from 20 institutions. Nine areas of research are in progress and are being conducted by interdisciplinary engineering medical faculty teams in the performance of Task III.
