Abstract

The most important challenges for transport planning research are: (1) research into behaviour dynamics; (2) research into the relations between the traffic and transport system, the labour market and the housing market; and (3) combining these two challenges: research into the dynamics of the relations between the traffic and transport systems, the labour market and the housing market. Research that takes these points into account may help to change transportation planning. It is not clear whether the development of new models is preferable to the improvement of existing models for the next five to ten years. (A)
