Abstract

A study is described which used the results of a telephone interview to assess current public understanding and acceptance of the North Carolina seat belt law as well as identify potential improvements that might increase the belt use of part- time wearers and maintain the belt use rates already achieved. An attempt was also made to refine and implement a prototype questionnaire that could be used to obtain information to better plan their occupant protection program.
