Abstract

Statistics are given on road injuries and deaths in towns in several European countries, broken down by categories of user (pedestrians, cyclists and motorists) and size of built- up areas, and will show variations over several years. The effects of various safety equipment will then be described in the fields o f: - horizontal signs, with advantages of retroreflection- vertical signs: good organisation of instructions by means of fixed or variable signs and traffic lights - facilities for 2- wheele traffic - facilities for pedestrians.
