From January 1, 1976 the compulsory wearing of seat belts came in force in Switzerland. Purposes of research here presented are, among others, possible consequences when not wearing seat belts correctly; injury patterns of belt wearers related to different collisions; influences of head rests on the cervical vertebrae; technical failures of seat belt anchorages; possibilities for improvement of accident reconstructions with computer simulation and the influence of speed on injury severity.
