Abstract

In 2019, 1 808 persons lost their lives in road crashes in the United Kingdom. Overall, the number of road deaths has considerably declined in the past two decades. However, since 2010 the rate of decline has slowed. In July 2019, the government published the Road Safety Statement 2019, A Lifetime of Road Safety. It sets out a two-year action plan containing 74 action measures. The statement emphasises the mentality shift towards a safe system approach. (Author/publisher)
