Abstract

This study examines the incidence of driving without a valid licence. Licence data were collected as part of Stationary Random Breath Testing in the northern Metropolitan Area of Sydney. The level of unauthorised driving for this area was found to be 2.4%. There is some evidence that this percentage may be lower than for the state as a whole. The characteristics of and countermeasures to unauthorised driving are discussed.
