Abstract

This paper describes the implementation of a Corporate Geographical Information System "COGIS" into Gloucestershire County Council. The major justification for this project was the benefits corporately sharing information across the whole authority. The GIS was the tool which would and has enabled this to happen. Both the County Surveyor's and Planning Departments have been at the forefront of corporately sharing information with other departments. The "COGIS" A project encompasses all major departments, they are Surveyor's, Planning, Education, Police, Fire, Commercial Services, Corporate Services, Libraries, Emergency Planning and Social Services, all are using the corporate GIS.
