Abstract

This paper outlines the bicycle federation of Australia (BFA) policy on traffic law enforcement and shows the need to promote the development of a legal /enforcement system that provides bicyclists with proper legal and police protection. Accident data is presented to show that the present accident prevention and road safety support system is weak on law enforcement which has increased the risk of accidents for all road users, but is many times more dangerous for unprotected bicyclists, particularly children.
