Abstract

Increasing urbanisation rates accompanied by growing transportation demand, sparked global interest in active mode use. This thesis identifies the determinants associated with mode and route choice behaviour of active mode users. The formation of choice sets based on experience has been investigated and applied. Finally, approaches for simultaneously modelling multiple travel choices have been evaluated. The findings can be used as input for policy measures to increase active mode use. (Author/publisher)
