Abstract
A definition is given of by passes. Their influence on construction, sociology, culture and other aspects on through traffic in urban areas, the traffic congestion, the part of through traffic on the whole traffic and the traffic on the passage through towns are described. The hindrance of traffic, the economy, the pedestrian and problems like noise, exhaust fumes and accidents are discussed.
