Abstract

Since cars involved in accidents often are not subject to frontal, but to oblique impact, the efficacy of safety belts bas been examined by means of a dummy on a catapult seat, whose upper part could be turned with respect to the carriage thus permitting to simulate obligee impact. The freedom of the dummy and the spatial arrangement corresponded to the conditions in the medium-sized passenger cars. Results are given.
