Abstract

The Committee on Urban Areas (C10) held two sessions at the Kuala Lumpur Congress discussing the committee's work on: intermodality; traffic management and quality of service; the environment and consultation with the public; the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders. The concept that the car is threatening our cities and that its use should pay for better public transport is debated. The Committee also presented case studies on Kohoku New Town, Japan; ABC policy, The Netherlands; Curitiba, Brazil; and Cyberjaya, Malaysia. For the covering abstract see ITRD E118727.
