Abstract

The Urban Drive Control (UDC) project intends to integrate the environmental and city interests with that of the individual driver's interests by combining remote speed advice and driving speed recommendations with the autonomous longitudinal control of vehicles. In this presentation the UDC project is described from the initial user needs studies in the early development phase up to the evaluation process in the project's final verification phase. The involvement of end-users is described, the system design and the envisaged evaluation process. The major achievements of the already performed work-packages (user needs, functional specifications, first prototype developments), with emphasis on the initial user needs trials, is shown. Finally an outlook on UDC systems is shown.
