Abstract

Two problem areas, public acceptance and support and effective planning, are examined. These problems exist in urban renewal and transportation planning and development in urban areas. Suggestion is made that organizations of public officials be financed to plan and develop programs and to see to their implementation on a coordinated area-wide basis. Such organizations are deemed ideal mechanisms for achieving the continuing comprehensive transportation planning process required in urban areas by federal highway legislation.
