Small and medium-sized tourist towns are often faced with the problem of travel for their visitors and residents. They must succeed in reconciling the attractiveness of the site and quality of traffic for everyone. They therefore often take initiatives to diversify and optimize the transport service in the area, thereby facilitating access to their site and movement within it, by modes other than private cars. Based on the best practices of seven French cases examined in detail, this publication aims to show local stakeholders what potential there is to improve tourist travel, whether by active modes, public transport or car, providing a unique perspective on the importance of information to tourists and of governance and partnerships within an area.
