Abstract

This paper documents and analyzes the wide array of divergent research findings regarding vehicles, modes, trip lengths, increasing incomes and lack resources for the transport sector in the context of low reliability of forecasting functions for LRT/MRT costs and ridership, ahd the definition of an appropriate role for the bicycle in China. It proposes a strategic planning framework for cities of various populations taking into consideration the lack of financial resources in China and the large cost of these systems.
