Abstract

The paper commences with a review of the various forms of mass transport making an assessment of their differing capacities. The effects of noise pollution on the environment is appraised. A discussion on the trends affecting mobility and accessibility is promulgated with examples of experimental schemes introduced. Leading on to an appraisal of the role of transportation and its tasks, the competing forms of transportation are discussed with a view of their relative effect on the urban scene.
