Abstract

The DOT's research program in developing vision screening standards is described. Topics discussed include (1) Background and rationale for the program; (2) First major research study; and (3) Future plans for the DOT program, including design of an improved driver vision test device, large scale evaluation programs to validate this device and potential operational problems and approaches to their resolution.
