Abstract

The Commercial Vehicle operations (CVO) portion of the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) program is in the forefront of the implementation of ITS technology in the United States. CVO is playing a lead role in the development of a nationally available commercial motor vehicle information network to support the safe efficient movement of freight. This paper provides an overview of the ITS/CVO program and roles of the U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) and of truck fleets and manufacturers. (A)
