Abstract

The U.S. Navy has for the past 22 years been committed to the support of a number of research and development programs to improve seating systems in non- ejection aircraft. This committment has resulted in a family of crashworthy seats which have gone through considerable testing and evaluation to demonstrate their capacity to manage crash loads and to limit those loads transmitted from the aircraft to the crewmembers.
