Abstract

After its first release in December 2006 DATEX II has been widely adoptedfor the growing need of exchanging dynamic road traffic related information. The EasyWay consortium, which comprises more than 100 motorway operators and traffic authorities in Europe, have decided to foster DATEX II in order to support traffic management and information provision between the various partners in the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) service chain. The presentation reports the status, background, experiences, results and planning of this DATEX II owner and user group in Europe from a road authorities’ perspective. Examples for successful applications of DATEX II are given, current coverage is presented and possible extension and liaisons are discussed.
