Abstract

Even though Active Speed Warning Systems (ASWS) were introduced in Germany at the end of the 1970s they are still not widely used and there are few research reports on their effectiveness. This paper presents an investigation of the use of ASWS mainly in Germany but also consider their use in some other countries. Information was gathered using a questionnaire sent to highway authorities.
