Abstract

In comparing observed frequencies and expected frequent, sign of the difference of these two will not have a 50-50 distribution under certain circumstances with very small expected and observed frequencies. Inasmuch circumstances the basic prerequisite for the Sign Test is not satisfied, and the test can yield fallacious results. A demonstration of this defect is given.
