Use of a microcomputer in an electronic fuel gage module.

Abstract

The electronic fuel gage being used in the 1980 Mark/Lincoln/Thunderbird/Cougar XR7 has minimal basic system logic requirements. However, by incorporating a microcomputer, it was possible to reduce the cost and complexity of other components in the module. As the design and development of the electronic fuel gage progressed, the need surfaced for additional features that had not been identified at the beginning of the program. The microcomputer provided the flexibility to add these features and still meet the cost and timing constraints of the program.
